Wolf Run Wildlife
Refuge and Educational Facility, Inc. was incorporated in 2001, but began its lifesaving efforts as early as 1993. Founded
by owner Mary L. Kindred, this facility, located in Nicholasville, KY, was enacted to help innocent animals find a world that
was safe, free from abuse and a permanent sanctuary for those that could not be released back into the wild. Since its beginning,
Wolf Run has grown into a state and USDA licensed educational facility that houses Kentucky native wildlife for teaching purposes.
Wolf Run is home to animals from all over
the world. From African lions to South American cougars, from Coyotes to our native Whitetail deer, we work diligently to
offer each of them an existence that closely mimics their natural habitats. This can only be done with
the support of caring individuals that realize a rescue does not end when the animal is removed from a bad situation-but when
that animal is truly safe, happy, and healthy. This requires donations for spacious living areas, strong,
durable fencing, veterinarian fees and health upkeep, labor, and diet.
"We give life back to the wild."
Through our strong rehabilitation program we are able to return many of our state animals back into their environments. In
2003 our entire board of Directors was state certified in wildlife rehabilitation.
Our goals stem from a passion to make
the world a better place and to share our experience with others, particularly children. Through the animals
much is to be learned. Wolf Run volunteers strive to educate each visitor to the facility. Each weekend
Wolf Run is open to the public, our volunteer staff is available to answer questions. Education is the key to changing the
future.
Both
adults and young people are instrumental in the heartbeat of Wolf Run, our goals are the same. To show
others that our hearts beat as one, our lives are of equal importance and that through caring and compassion each of us has
the capabilities to do great things.
As a non profit organization, we currently exist solely from public donations.
